The Original ‘Easy Rider’,Dennis Hopper, dead at 74
He’ll be missed no doubt although in the final months of his life while ill he was battling to make sure the right people got his likely ‘vast’ estate , in other words, “not his wife” (a woman whom he characterized as “after his money” ) when he passed away inevitably from a long illness from Prostate cancer, and that you can read about here if you wish.
Otherwise, another American Icon is gone forever, and unlikely to be replaced anytime soon with the garbage filled “idol of the moment” celebrity culture we li ve in today where a man with no executive and nothing but a catchy slogan can be elected the ‘first African American” president without even being African American….certainly with no disrespect meant towards the newest, Chicago born and bred American Idol Lee Dewyze, a ‘kid done well’ who lives literally ‘blocks’ down the street here, just the ‘fly by night’ stars of the minute in the so called “movie industry” which spends more destroying America than “lifting her up” when we need it.
A near treasonous group frankly, which is so bankrupt of ideas, I was even watching Easy Rider just this week from Netflix while they were all celebrating the the long
avoided sequel of “Wall Street” in Cannes, mostly because they simply cannot come up with ‘anything better’ than what has already been made by pro’s like Hopper, because they all have ‘ liberal loon’ blinders on and see everything through that ‘singular’ world view that the majority of Americans don’t ‘subscribe’ to .
Like many Americans, instead of the contemporary crap we’re inundated with on television, I watch my own schedule, and Denis Hopper was ‘always’ on that list, as you can see here from my late Netflix activity.
Strangely I also caught “Speed” this week as well, ironically enough, although he’s been ill for some time, so perhaps ‘subliminally’ that was in the back of my head. .
Rest in peace Mr Hopper, a great American if there ever was one.
Dennis Hopper, the maverick director and costar of the landmark 1969 counterculture film classic “Easy Rider” whose drug- and alcohol-fueled reputation as a Hollywood bad boy preceded his return to sobriety and a career resurgence in the films ” Hoosiers” and “Blue Velvet,” died Saturday. He was 74.
A longtime resident of Venice who also was known as a photographer, artist and collector of modern art, Hopper died at his home of complications from prostate cancer, said Alex Hitz, a friend of the family.
